A Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE) is a health professional who is an expert in diabetes education and management. They support people in self-managing their diabetes, overcoming challenges, making informed decisions about their treatment and leading their healthiest life possible. A diabetes educator can be the first point of call when you want more information, support and/or motivation in managing your diabetes and the link between other health professionals. What are the fees?
An initial appointment (1 hour) is $160 A review appointment (1/2 hour) is $95 A discounted pension rate is available. Extended appointments are required in certain circumstances, and fees will be discussed at the time of booking. Do I need a referral?
No referral is required. However, you require a GP management plan to claim a rebate through Medicare. Discuss this with your GP if appropriate. Are there rebates available?
Some private health funds will provide a rebate depending on your level of coverage. For example, if you have a GP Management Plan for diabetes education, we can process the rebate for you. If your question is not listed above, please feel free to contact us.
